The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Kosice offers 2 dormitories within 10 minute walk from the main campus. The buildings have a total capacity of 400 rooms. The dorms offer single and double rooms, as well as apartment-type accommodation. The prices range from €100 to €200 per month based on the room type.
All rooms have all the necessary equipment – beds, desks, chairs, cabinets, fridges, and Internet connection. Parking lots for all of the students are ensured in the area. Also, the buildings are monitored, and the entrance is controlled.
Students who prefer to live alone can rent a 1-bedroom flat for around €400 per month. On average, electricity, heating, water, monthly pass, and Internet cost €250 monthly. The rest of the expenses for food and leisure time are all up to your standards, but about €350 will be necessary.
The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Kosice Admission & Entry Requirements
General admission requirements for a 6-year Veterinary Medicine study programme:
- Complete Upper Secondary Education or full specialized upper secondary education qualification entitled to university study, attested by a certificate (for example, General Certificate of Education, Matriculation Certificate, Certificate for Upper Secondary Education and Training, International Baccalaureate Diploma, Leaving Certificate, etc.)
- Written entrance exams in Biology and Chemistry
The test consists of Biology and Chemistry questions at a level of secondary school education. There are 5 exam dates from March until August. The test evaluates your knowledge of basic sciences and English language proficiency.
Term Dates
The classes for the winter semester start in the last week of September and continue until mid-December. The exam session is held between the end of December and early February.
The spring semester starts in the second week of February and finishes at the beginning of May. The exam session is held between mid-May and mid-July.

The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy was founded in 1949 in Kosice. It is a public single-faculty higher education institution. Currently, this is the only Slovakian University that offers veterinary medicine in English.
