Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria, and with a population of 1.5 million people, it is no wonder it hosts more than 105,000 students in higher education. Young scholars have plenty of opportunities not only for leisure and entertainment but for growth and maturity as well.

The scenic Vitosha mountain towers over the city, and it is a constant source of beauty and recreation. Students often spend their weekends hiking the trails, skiing the slopes, or climbing the peaks and then pursuing their studies with renewed vigour.

However, leaving the city is not the only way to get in contact with nature since Sofia has several large parks and many city gardens to explore. While some are quiet havens for relaxation and introspection, others are excellent locations for sport and recreation.
