Admission Requirements for Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in 2024

The admission requirements for the General Medicine Course in English at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin ask students to meet the following criteria:

  • Completed secondary school education. If you are still studying, you can submit a certificate at a later stage.
  • A passing score on the entrance exam
  • Medical confirmation of general health

The entrance examination consists of questions in Biology and Chemistry and is usually held online. Typically, there are 3 admission test exam dates per academic year – at the beginning of June, late July, and mid-August. However, you can only take the exam once – no resits are available.

JFMED offers pre-med courses in Biology and Chemistry to prepare students for the entrance examination. They are held online and cost €198 total, or €99 if you want to sign up for only one of the subjects.

The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Kosice Admission & Entry Requirements

General admission requirements for a 6-year Veterinary Medicine study programme:   

  • Complete Upper Secondary Education or full specialized upper secondary education qualification entitled to university study, attested by a certificate (for example, General Certificate of Education, Matriculation Certificate, Certificate for Upper Secondary Education and Training, International Baccalaureate Diploma, Leaving Certificate, etc.)   
  • Written entrance exams in Biology and Chemistry  

The test consists of Biology and Chemistry questions at a level of secondary school education. There are 5 exam dates from March until August. The test evaluates your knowledge of basic sciences and English language proficiency.

Term Dates/Semesters at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine

The winter semester usually starts in mid-September and ends in late December. After a break for the Christmas holidays, students go into an exam period, which lasts from the start of January to mid-February.

The summer semester typically starts in mid-February and ends in late May, followed by an assessment period between the end of May and the end of June.
