Life as a Medical Student in Kielce, Poland

According to the legend, Prince Mieszko dreamt of Saint Adalbert, who drew a winding line in the ground that turned into a stream. When he woke up, Miesko found the Silica River, and the future king built a church and town to commemorate the saint.

Nowadays, Kielce is a cosy city in the Holy Cross Mountains with rich cultural and spiritual life. Students can enjoy many local theatres, art galleries, cinemas, and landmarks. The local catholic churches and the Palace of Krakow Bishops are among the spectacular buildings worth exploring.

In addition, the countryside of Kielce offers many opportunities for a weekend getaway. Swietokrzyski National Park is a protected area in the Holy Cross Mountains that offers a unique connection with nature. Moreover, the park has several monasteries and the ruins of a castle waiting for explorers.

If you love stories about kings and castles, meet Bartek. He has personally met king Casimir III who held court near him. King Jan III Sobieski rested under him on his return from the Battle of Vienna. As you might have guessed by now, Bartek is an oak tree, and he is almost 700 years old. Who knows what he’d tell you?
