Life as a Medical Student in Krakow, Poland

According to the legend, Krakow was built atop the Wawel Dragon’s cave by the legendary leader Krak. The location is known as Wawel Hill today, and it’s part of Krakow’s Old Town, an area rich in historical landmarks.

Also, it’s where Wawel Castle and Wawel Cathedral stand proud with their spires. The first was the seat of Polish kings until the 17th century, while the second was the home of Pope John Paul II in his days as an archbishop.

Nowadays, the city hosts over 200,000 students, and cultural life holds a powerful enchantment over them. Krakow has 28 museums and art galleries that hold priceless artefacts, such as Da Vinci and Rembrandt paintings. Even Szczerbiec, the ancestral sword of Polish kings, is displayed in the city.

Furthermore, local theatres, operas, and concert stages organise many annual events in addition to their regular programme. Some of the festivals are of international significance, such as the Misteria Paschalia (baroque music), Sacrum-Profanum (contemporary music), and the Krakow Screen Festival (popular music).

Term Dates

The academic year is divided into two semesters – winter and spring. There is a 2-week examination period after every half of the academic year. During the summers, you will be obliged to take a 4-week clerkship in a health-related institution.

Admission & Entry Requirements Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University

We are happy to announce that this university requires no exams. So the only thing you need to do is to apply here. Medlink Students will take care of the rest. You will need good science grades in your high school leaving certificate and at least a B2 English proficiency level.

If, for any reason, you don’t meet the criteria to be admitted to AFMKU, you still have a chance to be accepted. When the number of students who meet the requirements is lower than the number of available places, it’s up to the Rector’s decision to admit students with lower results.
