Lanolin is a natural raw material used for skin care since the beginning of time. It is extracted during the sheep shearing process and the wool washing process before further processing. Lanolin is separated from water by centrifugation and the subsequent washing and purification stages produce a material suitable for cosmetic purposes. Lanolin pure does not dissolve in water, but can absorb twice its weight, therefore in cosmetics, it is often used as a natural emulsifier, e.g. in pharmaceutical ointments, moisturizing, nourishing, protective, and night creams.
